Overview

The Gloria Ferrer Facilities and Production Maintenance Manager, directs and supervises maintenance staff.  Establishes and maintains work schedules, maintenance records and inventory of equipment.  Plans, organizes, directs, and controls the activities and staff involved in the design, construction, coordination, modification, maintenance of company facilities and equipment.  Uses safety, sustainability, and efficiency as baselines for all decision making.  Formulates and monitors company facility standards.  Tasks involve complex troubleshooting, modification, installation, repair, servicing and similar maintenance operations where detailed knowledge and experience is required.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directs and supervises maintenance staff in the maintenance and repair of existing and new equipment and systems to ensure efficient operation of the winery. 
    • Including annual performance review, staff development, payroll
    • Ensures that all policies and applicable laws are enforced.
  • Manage all maintenance and repair vendors.
    • Perform, or arrange for outside service provider to perform repairs on production lines and facilities as needed.
    • Solicit and evaluate bids from contractors for major facility projects, and award bids for production and visitors center projects.
    • Solicits and evaluates bids from vendors/contractors for parts/equipment and services.
  • Manage facility repairs for production, administration, and tasting room buildings as needed.
  • Prepare annual maintenance OPEX and CAPEX budget for facilities.
    • Maintain purchases and expenditures within annual budget.
  • Manage the execution of major facility projects for production and visitors center, and manage the contractors involved with these projects.
  • Purchase parts and supplies and maintain complete inventory of maintenance materials.
  • Create & Maintain Standard Operating Procedures
  • Produce maintenance work orders and keep maintenance database up to date.
  • Establish and maintain PM program for all equipment and facilities.
  • Manage potable water, wastewater, septic and storm water systems & permitting.
  • Maintain files and records of all equipment and vehicles, inventory.
  • Monitor all equipment and vehicles. Manage repairs and PM as needed.
  • Monitor facility systems, including heating, cooling, glycol, electrical and plumbing. Manage repairs and PM as needed.
  • Maintain list of maintenance priorities and projects.  Meet regularly with winemaking and General manager on a weekly basis to discuss and evaluate.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment and machinery and perform repairs.
  • Recommends measures to improve safety, performance, sustainability, efficiency and quality of all equipment, systems, and facilities.
  • Ensures all facilities are complaint with state and federal regulations.
  • Manages our wastewater and storm water permitting.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate in change over production line to accommodate different packages as needed.
  • Operate forklift as needed.
  • Responsible for Safety and Security of the facilities and employees.
  • On-Call to manage security and safety issues after hours.
  • Participate in seasonal harvest-related work as assigned including occasional night shift. 
  • Support Vineyards on major projects, pumps, wells, and ponds.
  • Ensure that the Gloria Ferrer Culture is consistently supported in all business and employee interactions.   Including, safety, ethical and legal aspects, complying with state and federal law and GF policies and producers.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Seven to ten years previous experience with bottling line and winery equipment maintenance in a medium to large size winery required.
  • Three to five years’ experience with facilities management in supervisory capacity
  • Experience in trades of electrical, plumbing, welding, refrigeration, and PLC control Systems.
  • Requires knowledge of facilities design, construction, administration, and maintenance.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and AutoCad
  • Ability to communicate effectively with good skills in reading, writing and math.
  • Spanish not required but preferred.
  • Strong understanding of state and federal facility regulations and food safety standards
  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Must be able to work outdoors in extremes of heat/humidity/cold and other inclement weather conditions
  • Must be able to walk on uneven ground
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to see clearly enough to a) drive safely b) recognize employees c) work long hours on computers.
  • Must be able to work long hours when required
  • Must be able to sustain the repeated use of hands as well as long periods of standing, sitting, walking and bending
